Kingsbury is an outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Lake Tahoe-Nevada State Park alone offers the gamut of recreational activities and facilities. The park’s Sand Harbor features lake-front beaches plus boat launching and picnicking areas. Memorial Point and Hidden Beach provide additional access to the lake. Average temperatures range from the low 30s during December and January to the high 60s during July and August. When temperatures are at their lowest, snowfall can be in excess of four inches monthly. In the summer months, sunshine is plentiful and precipitation dips to a minimum.
Public education in Kingsbury is provided by Douglas County Schools. The district has approximately 15 campuses, including Kingsbury Middle School and Douglas County High School. Kingsbury Middle School has an enrollment of roughly 150, while Douglas County High has about 1,500 students.
